This lecturewill focus on the ((p,q) theorem in convex geometry. It will introduce the main ideas and explain the relationship between the (p,q) theorem and other Helly-type theorems. Some important properties and theoretical results will also be discussed.

Imre Bárány教授，主要从事离散几何、凸性理论、组合数学、随机多胞形、格点多胞形、代数拓扑等领域的理论研究，以及上述各领域在计算机科学、程序设计、运筹学和博弈论等领域的应用研究，取得了一系列杰出的成果，被国际同行誉为离散几何学界理论研究与应用转化相结合最成功的学者之一。先后多次应邀在国际重要学术会议上作大会邀请报告，2002年应邀在国际数学家大会上作45分钟邀请报告。研究工作先后获得Rényi Prize（1988），Prize of the Academy（1994），Award of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences （1998），Széchényi Prize（2016），主持欧洲高级研究项目1项。已在Advances in Mathematics、Mathematsche Annalen、Proceedings of the London Mathematical Society 等国际顶尖数学杂志上发表论文180余篇。
